Best Served Cold

One Of Those

Raw Story:

"If you're attacking your fellow Americans in an act of war you lose the rights that come with citizenship," Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, an independent, told reporters.

Lieberman said he was trying to amend an old US law "that says that if an American citizen is found to be fighting in the military of a nation with whom we are at war, they lose their citizenship."

The lawmaker from Connecticut said the law should state that "any individual apprehended, American citizen, who is found to be involved with a foreign terrorist organization as designated by the Department of State, would be deprived of their citizenship rights."

"If you have joined an enemy of the United States in attacking the United States to try to kill Americans I think you sacrifice your rights of citizenship," said Lieberman.

Isn't it fascinating to consider that a sitting U.S. senator appears to have no fundamental understanding of how due process in America works? ...That it's not a candy to be taken away when you've been a naughty child, or an empty prize sachet placed at the bottom of the cereal box by a smirking factory worker but a basic tenet of United States society...?

Does America even bother to teach Civics in school anymore?

Of course, Lieberman is actually stumping for his true constituency here...the sort of concerns for whom fear-based lies are like mother's milk in a gold-rimmed highball glass (when served guilefully to others), and he's happy to take their money and shake his buttocks for them anytime.
Frankly, not one anti-(small d) democratic position that he has advocated since 2006, or for that matter long before, should surprise observers in the know.

The only reason that I don't go full Godwin on this coddler of fascism at the moment is due to a lack of Photoshop - but I stung you with one of your true faces before, Joe...and someday I'll hold that mirror up to you again.

Promise.

Civics got cut along with art and language. All that hippie shit gets in the way of formulating the future cubicle jockeys of the world.

Thanks for yet another life-long cerebral scar from that image of Joeberman shaking his butt cheeks.

But still. Nice to see you.

I would opine that if the sort of bill that Lieberman and his pals like Boytoy Brown quiveringly advocate as this week's final solution to their Chicken Little woes was ever to pass into American law - then my reasons for avoiding travel to the United States during the Bush epoch will have become permanently codified and my romance with the American dream can finally be lowered into the ground as a dead memory.

My friends within the fiery belly of the Great Satan will always be free to visit me on the wrong side of the divide, of course - hopefully, your citizenship won't be revoked by doing so.
